Yeah the list price was adjusted this week from $999 to $583.

I think this is the first sub $999 LGA 1366 CPU with a 6.40GT/s QPI and 1333MHz memory support.

Nice find!

Wish I had waited two days......... paid $180 more.
Oh well, I think it's VERY telling that Intel dropped the price now. This changes my expectation re the SB processors.

I may be eating MP release crow soon. double

This had been known for a while, there will be a Core i7 995X/W3695 at 3.6GHz coming soon too for the $999 spot. There hasn't been anything said about the low end being updated to a 3.33GHz quad from the current 3.20GHz from what I've seen though. Unless Apple make drastic changes then the next Mac Pros aren't going to be a huge advancement over what you have now.

Does anyone know if these have a warranty from Intel and how long it is for? I know the seller gives 30 days for returns, but what about after the 30 days?

That is unreal. It is a new, boxed processor from a reputable seller for $615.99? These were like $1200+ processors just a few months ago and you were lucky if you could find an ES on eBay for $800. Wow, just wow. Maybe it's all the hooplah about the new Sandy Bridge line and the W3680 is being discontinued or something.

look what intel now lists the w3670 the w3680 the w3690

the new bargain is the w3680 priced dropped by over 400 bucks.

Fantastic!

I probably won't be buying for a year at least though. The current CPU does the job.

Say.... prices on obsolete CPU's don't go up, do they?

These are all good not eol as of today. looks to me that buying an eol new 2010 quad 2.8 in a week or 2

at discount and dropping in a hex 3.33 may be better then then getting a 2011.

VERY interesting.

When the SB Mac Pro's are updated I will have to do a performance per pound examination to see if this chip is the way forward or the SB-E MP is the way forward!

I am going to update the quad 2.8 to hex 3.2 thread. my plans are to sell my 3.2 hex and use the cash to buy a 2011 mac pro and do a nice cpu upgrade thread like the 2010 thread. Of course it may not happen I will have to wait and see what the 2011 mac pro is. LOL
