Ok so I bought a MacBook off eBay and I believed it was the first revision with Core Duos but it turns out that it's a Core 2 Duo!! Yay! Have to say it is a truly amazing laptop, it's just charging at the moment but once it's done it's time to have a proper play around with it! Goodbye PC and Microsoft, the future is :apple:
 
Well I'm actually waiting for my 160GB drive to come and Leopard to be released will buy it on day of release or pre-order then going to replace drive and install Leopard so I am literally starting from scratch :) I can't believe people still buy normal laptops, they don't compare to Apples. They just top-notch.

I both agree and disagree with you on that one. As I have discovered, Apple still suffers from the same issues as other laptop manufacturers; for example, build quality issues, hardware defects, etc. I think where Apple wins is with aesthetics, their operating system, and the fact that they run into less driver issues than PCs, given that they only need to support a few specific hardware configurations.

I'm loving my MBP now, but it took three tries before I got one without problems, and even now who knows... I might start having problems with this one. At the end of the day, it's still a consumer product.
 
Well maybe I was wrong about hardly used in that sense but never mind.

HaHa. Perhaps, been used hardly? Just kidding.

That's excellent. I remember the day I got my CD MB and just fell in love. It was my first mac laptop in a few years (the last was probably serial number 3 of the 12" PBs), and you couldn't rip it out of my hands for days.

Ahhh... I remember those days fondly....

What is probably difficult for you to understand that there are *thousands* of Mac-users who have received flawless or near-flawless machines, and have enjoyed them daily without every posting their experiences.

Even though your experience is important, no less, it is still anecdotal.

Yes, thanks for all the comments guys! I took it today with me to uni and everyone said it's really nice and were admiring it :D never seen a laptop get so much attention :p

It was from eBay. It'd be good to get rid of another person's crap before putting your own onto it. Having said that, it looks like it's not really all that necessary if a new drive is on the way with a new OS anyway. :)

Boot from the OSX discs holding C, and use Disk Utility to format the drive before using the Installer to put OSX back on.

Glad to hear you're happy with your MacBook, they're lovely machines.
 
They are very very nice. Now I have a question, what's the best way to remove dirt etc from MacBook? I'm thinking of an alcohol based solution? Also what's the best way to clean the screen?
 
It looks good but unfortunately I can't buy it because I live in the United Kingdom, are there any UK re-sellers of the product?
