Hey all I have had my MBP for about 4 months now. Just today it has started making very loud noises. I have had the whine but not the noise now. It is very loud and also vibrating. I think it may be the fan or HD.

Any ideas or suggestions on what to do? Also I purchased the Mac in THailand but I am now in Canada, will they fix/replace under the same warrenty?

Thanks.

Yep. All macs are covered by a world wide warranty, so you're OK.

Could be your hard drive, so start backing up anything you don't want to lose.

Is there a CD or DVD inserted in the optical drive?

Back up NOW. The more you use it, the faster it will die (if its the HD).

Use Time Machine :p.

Nope no disk in the optical drive. Should I continue to use my mac in this condition? This is my primary computer as I travel and I can't afford not to use it.

Thanks again for the help.

As everyone said, keep everything backed up. Apple has a worldwide warranty on their portables so you should be able to get it fixed by them in Canada.

Also, ensure that your hard disk is okay by heading to Disk Utility, selecting your hard drive on the left pane and clicking Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions). If it comes up with an error, report back. :)

This is the report I got from Disk Utility.

Okay, you need to either boot from the OSX disc and repair your drive using the bundled Disk Utility, or you need to run fsck. Either of these should fix your problem. :)

Would that actually fix the sounds coming from the HD?

Most likely. There's only one way to find out. ;)
