very old laserwriter 2 on mac os x 10.2

Have you even BOTHERED to check Apple's knowledge base to see if the printer you are talking about is listed as one supported??? Go, check and THEN ask questions. Especially if it IS listed and doesn't work..

yes, I`ve already been there, but the only thing i actually found
out is that my printer isn`t included in the mac os x list of printers.
Sounds like you are SOL then... What version of OS X are you talking about anyway and which G3 model?? If you have USB, then just go out and get a new USB equipped printer for under $150 and be done with it.
Even gimp-print DOESN'T support the printer you are talking about, so you really are SOL unless you find someone to write a driver for you. Unless you know an extremely savy programmer, that is willing to do it for free (or find someone that has already made the driver) you will [mostly likely] spend more for the driver then the cost of a new printer.

Cut your losses, and get a modern printer. I have an Epson C82 (networked) and it prints out more then fast enough with excellent quality. For a home or small office, it's more then sufficient. If you don't need the speed of the C82, check out the C62 or even C42 (depending on what you really need). The C82 is just under $150 with the other models being less. The C82 prints out photographs (either scanned in or from a digital camera) at film quality (provided you have a good original to start with). It also has light fast and water proof inks, so you don't have to worry [as much] about drooling over the p0rn that you print out.
Over the years I have had a few Epson printers. I, typically, upgraded to the newer version of whatever I had at the time. I started off with a Stylus 880 which I gave to my mother when I got a C80. I then sold the C80 when the C82's came out. I have never regretted purchasing any of the Epson printers. I gave my sister a Lexmark printer a couple of years ago (it was newer then the 880). She ended up "borrowing" my mother's 880 to print out some cards since the Lexmark printer was dog slow (it even sported a lower resolution I believe). Even printing over the network at their place from my sister's computer to my mother's printer is faster then going to the Lexmark.
One thing you WILL want to do when you get a new ink jet printer... get paper made for ink jet printers (duhhh). I favor Hammermill paper, since it's got a nice finish, decent weight, and nice tooth to it. I print everything except for photographs on the Hammermill paper. You can get cheaper paper, but that's one case where you do get what you pay for. In my opionion, Hammermill is #1 for both ink jet and laser printers.

First, his LaserWriter 2 is a LASER printer, not a piece-of-garbage inkjet that will bankrupt him on ink cartridges. A laser printer will cost more than $150 (altho he can probably find a used one that gimp-print will support). Cost-per-page on inkjet printers is like 10x as high as lasers. Inkjets are only cheap to buy - they're very expensive to use.
Second, somewhere along the line Apple made the decision not to support PostScript level 1 printers on Mac OS X. They worked in 10.1.5 - I know, I have a LaserWriter 1 - but they don't work in 10.2. I suppose there's some justification for that decision (printer age would be a very stupid one), I don't know what it is, but it's there and that's that.
Apple's laser printers were very well made (overengineered as usual) and many are still in use today. My LaserWriter 1 still works fine. I'm going to use it with a PC.
So, Lordice, if you can go back to 10.1.5, your printer will work; in 10.2 it won't. I hope you can find an economical solution.
