After updating to 15.1, battery life is very poor on my 6S Plus. It is like half a day even I leave it mostly unused at home. No video playing, no phone call, maybe just a few minutes of browsing. Anybody else has this problem? Is this Apple's way to make us buy a new phone? I got the battery replaced few years ago via their replacement program.

I have a 6S currently on 15.2 beta and it's fine. It was also fine on 15.1.

If you installed the beta less than a day ago, then it should improve. A hard reboot, assuming you've not done one, wouldn't hurt.

The same for me. Battery life is very poor on my 6S Plus. It was much, much better with iOS 14.8

Decreased battery performance on older phones with every new generation of iOS has been a signature feature of iOS since forever.
Why anyone with a 6S would install buggy iOS 15 right now is a mystery. Always wait until it’s at least .3 before making the switch.

Checked with Apple. At first they said it means I need a new battery. Then, they asked me to enable sharing of my phone data with them. After checking, they said everything is normal an no need to replace the battery.

How did they get the data from my phone when I was talking with them?

I went to an Apple store and asked about the phone battery life issue when I traded in my Mac. The guy said that I am using an 'advanced' OS on an old phone. So, short battery life is expected. Then, he tried to sell me the latest iPhone!

I asked if he could do a check on my phone but he refused as I did not make an appointment to see a Genius. He asked me to check the battery capacity which is 83%. He said it is good. I asked him when I would need to replace the battery again. He said when it is below 80%. Is this true?

I recall that Apple only keeps components for about 5 years. Do I need to worry that one day, they may say there is no battery for the 6S+ and I have to buy a new phone.

The 6S is reaching the end of its useful life. You can’t hold on to these things forever. I retired my 6+ this month. It was past due.

Do most 6S+ users buy more recent iPhone or moved to Samsung or other company?

These days phones are as expensive or more expensive than computers. I find it hard to justify to spend that much money on a phone.

You don't have to buy the expensive phones.
The 6S+ was $750 for the 16GB model at launch. With inflation, that's about $860 today. And yet, today you can buy a 128GB iPhone 13 for $800. Don't tell me you think that's expensive now when you spent that much more money for your 6S+ back then.

I just purchased an Apple refurbished iPhone 8 Plus and it is plenty fast - zero lag, and it looks brand new in every way. New battery too. $399.
My last iPhone was a refurbished iPhone 6 Plus and it ran flawlessly for 6 years and still does to this day.
