I thought this was cool at first now I find it irritating and frankly a little disappointing/creepy.

Long story long, a friend sends me a panorama inviting me over to his house to hang out with friends. When I open the panorama from messages on my iMac a song that I do not have on my computer starts to play. When I close the panorama it stops. Here is a video of it.

So I thought, hey thats cool. Neither of us can explain it so I message that video to him. (Song is from Neon Indian btw).

Now when I open that video I sent him (the one above) in Messages on my Mac I get a Nissan ad on top of the original video. Keep in mind this is a recording of a recording so it should sound and look exactly the same (with the lose of quality from recording a recording) however nothing should be added. Here is a video of that.

None of my other devices (iPad and iPhone) play this additional audio when viewing the originals in iMessage.

What the heck is going on? First why is there additional audio being added to my panoramas and videos in Messages? Secondly where is it coming from?! Third, how do I stop it?

I don't like the idea that my iMac has taken it upon itself and is somehow connecting to an outside source while I'm viewing messages.

Erm...
I don't really know what's going on, but why don't you download Avast Antivirus and do a scan. If nothing pops up, uninstall Avast.

Have you installed any applications recently?

Sounds like you have adware installed somehow, maybe this will help: http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php

Thanks guys. I downloaded Avast and Adware. Both came back with no problems found. Which I'm glad because I try to be careful with what I download and sites I visit.

I was under the suspicion that it was more a bug then a virus or something. Its almost like its playing/recorded pandora. That song and ad are something I've heard on Pandora a few times. However I don't use Pandora on my Mac and it does it when the message app is the only thing open.

Obviously no one has really experienced this. So my question is what software can I use to help determine what is going on? Using activity monitor there is a clear spike in data usage when I play those videos from the messaging app on OS X however nothing really sticks out on the list, its all generic apple services.

Any help
