I've previously had a note 2, 3 and currently a 4. I've been thinking of switching to an iPhone, and have run the pros/cons of both platforms through my head many times. I was not overly excited by the note 5, though the deciding factor for me came a few days ago when my note 4 became useless. Menus and apps randomly open on screen with rebooting and battery pulls doing nothing. Next it stopped charging making it even impossible to update. After spending 30 minutes on the phone, Samsung offered for me to pay to ship it back to them and they told me they could repair it since it is still under warranty and it will take about 14 days to get back. I was shocked. What the hell am I supposed to do, rent a phone for 2 weeks? Apple swaps out phones at their stores and Samsung stores are located at best buys and there is one right down the street from me right now, though they will not help me. I am also on vacation away from home, making it even more difficult. My only choice seems to be to send it back to Samsung, though I want to find a way to wipe it first, though there is only around 3% battery left (might be even less now) and it will not charge.
Has anyone sent a phone to Samsung for service? If so, did it take around 14 days? Any suggestions for wiping it before sending it back? Is there a quick shortcut without going to settings, etc.? I'm afraid if I turn it back on it could be around 1% and by the time it boots and I get to the menu option too format it, it might turn off and if it won't charge I will have to send it back with all my data, which I really do not want to do.
Thanks.
