Information on this topic in previous posts seemed a little thin, so I thought I'd start this thread. I'm also looking for any input myself, as I'm looking into a few different options for my dual 23" Apple Displays when my Mac Pro finally arrives.

The two most prominent brands I can find online (so far) are:
- Ergotron
- Bretford

I've already got 2 of the VESA mount adapter kits from Apple, which provide the tools to remove the current stand and the bracket to install in its place so that you can then attach the display to a mounting arm (or other 100mm x 100mm mount).

I've been eying the LX Dual Desk Mount Arm (Silver), and wanted to know if anyone had experience with this specific product (or similar products from Ergotron). I did notice that Amazon.com has the same mount for considerably cheaper than Ergotron.

Any thoughts on VESA mounting solutions for Apple Displays?

I have not used a mount on the apple displays but used the Ergotron before for a twin LCD setup and worked quite well. The mount was on an arm attached to the back of the desk, but the thing was so heavy it would bow the desk slightly and I was always afraid it would break.

My fingers are crossed, I just ordered the Ergotron dual desk mount from Amazon...

I wondered about that. I am going to try to mount it on my drawing table (pretty nice, big white particleboard). I am pretty sure the two displays together will be too much for the "clamp" option, and I'll wind up having to drill through my table for the grommet mount.

As an option, check out lcdarms.com:

Ergotron products are plasticy and cheap feeling. Wouldn't want my Cinema Display relying on that. I have a single 23" Cinema Display on an lcdarms.com arm and it is solid. Let us know what you get and what you think.

I just set up the Bretford one for sale at the Apple Sotre (online). Using it with a 30" ACD. It works pretty well. I wish I had more up/down movement, but it holds the weight fine and the front/back movement is great and that's what's most important to me when I want to push the screen out of the way to have more desk space to work. I also like the fact that all the room under the display is now free as well.

I tried the clamp method but it just wasn't solid enough when moving the display around (the clamp itself shifted). So I drilled a 3/8" hole and clamped the mount directly into the desk. Looks cleaner and is much more solid.

All in all I'm happy with it. I can post some pics if you want to see the setup. Just let me know.

Going to revive this old thread instead of posting a new one.

Does anyone have some experience with VESA wall mounts?

I am currently looking to wall mount my two 23" Apple Cinema Displays. Preferably not too expensive.

Currently I am looking at this Milimounts Articulating Wallmount VESA 75/100, which is fairly cheap.

I wall mounted my 27 inch iMac I purchased the apple conversion piece that make the back of the display or in my case the imac a vesa mount. with the iMac you have to buy the apple conversion part. I used a mount that tilt up or down my iMac is mostly used as a DVR/tv in my kitchen.
I have been using it since Feb. 2010.

the link below has stats. It reads that your machine weighs in at 15 to 16 pounds the arm you are looking to buy claims to handle up to 27 pounds so you have a good margin for error.

I have two of these Ergotron MX Desk mounts for my 24" HP displays - not Apple ACD - but they are Vesa standard, so this shouldn't be a problem with this adapter. I cant speak highly enough about these Ergotron arms - flexible, sturdy, hold up to 30" ACDs (or even bigger, depending on the weight), they come with a ton of Vesa mounting options, great looking and great customer service... and the price is very reasonable.

Cheers!

Yeah, I took the plunge on those Milimounts Articulating Wallmounts. I already have the Apple VESA conversion kit ready for my displays.

I wanted those but they cost £120 in Denmark for the wall mounted version. A bit much for my taste.

How Low?

So I have 2 of the 27" Thunderbolt displays... (I work in a recording studio), and would like to position the control room desk facing the glass into the recording booth, but the hight of the monitors makes it impossible(for me) to see over them into the booth.

If the bottom of the monitors were sitting on the top of the desk, everything would be fine. That difference is about 4", but it makes all the difference.

So my question is with a 27" monitor, how low to the desk can I position the bottom of the monitor with a VESA display? Right now, the Egtron seems like the best bet.
