i have an early 2011 MBP with 2.3 i7 processor, 8gb ram,AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB graphics card and running 10.8.3 osx

the machine is fine never had any problems until now.
i plugged in an old VGA monitor using a thunderbolt to VGA adapter and this makes the CPU go in to overdrive.
in activity monitor %system goes from around 5.5 all the way up to 80.8 and mac slows down and has about a second of lag when clicking on anything.

sorry posted this is the wrong thread,it should be in the macbook pro thread.

is there anyway i can move it?
