Hi. I love the iPhone but I think it lacks the functionality I need. Here is what I want to do:

Set the phone at night so I have
(a) a loud ringer for an actual phone call (I am on call for work).
(b) Vibrating alarm which will also make noise after a period of time
(c) No other vibrations or alerts for emails or sms

I can setup the iphone to do that in the normal profile.

The problem is that during the day, I just want
(a) a loud ringer for an actual phone call (so I can use the phone!)
(b) vibrating alerts for everything else.

So, you would think I could just switch to silent mode with vibrate turned on. Unfortunately, the iphone uses the settings from the "Ring" profile to decide whether to vibrate or not for the specific alerts with on the "Silent" profile. So, if I set "New Text Message" to none, "New Voicemail" off, and "Calendar Alerts" off, then I will never get vibrations during the day without going in there and changing the settings every day. If I had or could write a program which goes adjust those settings by simply running it - that would work.

Anyone have any thoughts on this??

Thanks! I don't want to have to go back to the Blackberry if I can avoid it.
