On some movies I have ripped using handbrake and some I have downloaded off the internet the audio portion is off. Is it just a bad recording/rip or is there a setting somewhere to correct this. Or could there be some other problem?

Probably have both the AAC stereo and AC3 surround tracks set to default. Open file in Subler and check for that. If both audio tracks have check marks, uncheck the AC3 track.

ok...I haven't heard of Subler but I just downloaded it and have opened the file in it. seems the sound track is AAC 2 channel. I went to preferences and there was a ,convert AC-3 audio to AAC box and it was checked. should I uncheck that?

I just used Handbrake to rip and Identifier to tag...haven't used Subler before...

There is only a single audio track? And it's AAC stereo? Just trying to make sure I have the facts right.

Kinda put a halt to my library building. I don't want to do a lot of work and find out the audio is off.

Are you using an Apple TV and have you just started? Or have you been doing this for a while and all of a sudden you have some misbehaving files?

Using an ATV2 and I just started. Some Videos are in HD but are working fine with the ATV2. I checked some of the HD vids and SD vids...some are good and some are off.

No, I'm just trying to figure out if it's an aTV audio setting or a file problem that is the source of the issue.

So it sounds like a file issue if you have some files that are playing ok.

I looked at one of my files. What is the bitrate of your audio track? My Dolby Prologic track is 160.

Also I checked this particular vid in iTunes on my Mac and it was still off. Was checking to see if it was indeed the Vid or maybe a connection problem.

Yep...the HD wouldn't affect audio would it?

No. But I'm surprised to see an HD video with only a Dolby Prologic track. Usually HD videos have a 5.1 track and Handbrake adds the Dolby Prologic track for compatibility.

I think I'm gonna delete that file and start from scratch(on that movie). I checked several more vids and I think I found about 2 more with audio problems. Maybe they're just bad files.

That is certainly a possibility with downloads. But Handbrake should process a good source file with issue. Good luck.
