video capture on my MPB?

I had EyeTV 610 (DVB-C) here for testing purposes and was not too much impressed by the output picture quality. Otherwise it worked very well.

im not really looking to captuer just tv. i dont want a dvr type thing. i'm looking just to capture the actual output of something. lets say i want to captuer my xbox 360, how can i hook that up to my computer? what kind of converter will i need?

Again something like what Habakuk said will do the job. Quality varies hugely though when using the MBP as a monitor for something like the XBox.
