Hey Folks,
I've got an early 2008 MacPro 3.1 Running OS X 10.6.8,

My current video card is Radeon HD2600 with 256MB vRAM.
I need a video card upgrade to speed up rendering and export in Final Cut Pro X.

Recently I've purchased a re-flashed "Club 3-d Radeon 5850" card. Although it works under 10.6.8, Final Cut doesn't seem to benefit from it at all: rendering and export takes the same time or even longer than with my old HD2600 card.

My questions are:

1). Is there any known trick / enabler / kext etc. to make Club 3d HD5850 run it's OpenCL features under 10.6.8?

2). Is there a known way to import video drivers and Open GL framework from OS X 10.7.5 into 10.6.8?

3). Could someone please recommend me a card that works well under the 10.6.8 for Final Cut rendering and exporting? Gaming is not important.

Note.: I work under 10.6.8 for a reason, please don't waste your time on advising a system upgrade.

Best regards!

How does the 8800GT that was available as an option for the 3,1 compare power-wise to the ATI? Could put 2 of those into the system, or maybe an additional HD2600 if that'd be any help?

Hey ABTOP, when I wrote this there was 1 response and 463 views! I suggest you edit out the part about wasting time on what and what not to advise you on. Seems as if 463 viewers did not want to waste time and kept out of the post! :(
