Video Cards....

So...I'm getting Aperture.

And...

My ATI 9650 is supposedly one of the crappiest creations Radeon ever put out of its factory, but it meets the "minimum" Aperture requirements.

So I thought about the ATI 9800 Mac Edition, but it has a freaking ADC connector...

Is there such thing as a DVI to to ADC connector so I can add a 20-inch ACD to my setup?

Or - other card options? (not spending $500+ on the NVIDIA, cannot find an x850 xt to save my life).

I'm a little confused. The card has an ADC port on it and you want a DVI->ADC connector? Or do you want to turn the ADC port into a standard DVI one?

If you want ADC->DVI will this not work?

What about the ATI X800XT. You can buy it for about $400, which is a step up but it has gotten good reviews. Here is a review of it compared to the 9800SE: Link. Recently I have seen a lot of Mac Rumors members with this card (Just in their sig). If you want to take a step up from the 9800 but don't want to get the Nvidia 6800, this might be a good buy. Check it out here.

The X800 XT is a good card. The Card comes with ADC & DVI - if you have 2 DVI monitors you would need the adapter, but if you only have the 1, then you wont need any adapter.

Are we likely to continue getting any good AGP or even PCIe GPUs for PPC PowerMac G5s given the upcoming Intel transition? I could see myself buying a dual 2.3 or something with a nice X800XT, only to find that ATI and nVidia will only be developing new cards for Intel PMs. I get the feeling that the GPU offerings could start drying up way sooner than PPC software support, even though you've spent $3k for a ship of the line G5. I'm thinking of geting one, but for the moment I just got a new PB since their GPUs are nonupgradeable anyway so it doesn't matter what happens. But I'd hate to blow additional thousands on supposed upgradeability only to find PPC GPUs drying up well in advance of the PMs Intel incarnation. Will future PPC GPUs be a sort of dual binary device like the software, or like the 9800, where you can put it into either a PPC or Intel Mac and it works? Or is that sort of cross-platform GPU thing not likely to happen?

I agree, the ATI Radeon X800 XT is one heck of a video card.
