Since updating my iPhone X yesterday to 11.1.2 while watching videos on YouTube the volume slider at the top will randomly appear even though I didn’t touch the buttons or the screen, same thing in the Videos app, the controls appear randomly there too.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Are you positive your palm or anything didn’t touch one of the corners of the display?

I ask because I’ve had a few times when trying to use the swipe from left edge to go back on a webpage not work because my palm would inadvertently touch the bottom right corner and act as a multi touch gesture. Took a few times to realize I was doing that.

I’m pretty positive as that’s the first thing that came to mind and I also have a case on the phone, this also didn’t happen at all before that update. Also in the YouTube app if I was touching the screen all controls would appear, but in that app it’s only the volume slider that appears even though I’m not pressing the physical volume buttons.

I don’t know, never had this before.

Just tested watching YouTube with the phone laying down without me holding it and volume slider is still appearing randomly on screen so it’s definitely nothing to do with touch.

And same thing in Netflix while not touching the phone the volume slider appears just like in the YouTube app.

I don’t understand why no one else seems to be having this problem, it’s really annoying.

And still not fixed on 11.2, really getting annoyed with this.

Eureka, I’ve discovered what’s causing this to happen.

I have an alarm app called Alarmy, the volume controls only appear when I have an alarm set and it’s running in the background, tested it a handful of times and when I force closed Alarmy and waited over 2 minutes no volume slider appeared, if I open Alarmy again it appears after 2 minutes again. I’m guessing the app is making sure the volume is set correctly every 2 minutes so it’s in the right place for the alarm.

This didn’t happen in iOS 10 and I don’t think it started till 11.1.2 maybe so it’s still a iOS bug but I’ll be getting in contact with the app developer and maybe they can pass it along to Apple.

Good that you were able to find the cause of this, and also a good idea to report it to the developer. It may be that it's a bug, or that they should change their approach to how they're checking the volume level, and/or that they shouldn't be checked it as often as they are.

I have experienced it several times. It’s like the phone is possessed. Just random volume slider appears with nothing being touched.
[doublepost=1512909527][/doublepost]I don’t have Alarmy installed.

Force quit all apps and watch some video for a few minutes, see if you can narrow it down as you may have an app that’s doing the same kind of thing as Alarmy.
