Hi,

Is there any video doorbell, that support or will support Homekit anytime soon? It has to be battery one unfortunately...

Regards!

I believe the only one available currently is the Robin Pro-Line. Not sure if it’s battery or hardwired. Netatmo is supposed to be releasing one this year but not sure if that’s battery or hardwired. Ring just got HomeKit certification for the Ring Pro but that’s hardwired and no telling when, if ever, it will be available for HomeKit. They announced it a few years ago and everyone is still waiting. Seems like the majority of the HomeKit cameras are hardwired though. The Logitech Circle 2 wired is available for HomeKit but the wireless battery version is not.

You’ll end up a lot more satisfied if you stop focusing on HomeKit. There are a lot of great products out there and HomeKit should be a non-factor if you want the best, full featured products. If you want overpriced, limited selection, limited features...stick with HomeKit.

Thank you guys for helping me. Well I would like to have all devices at one place, but it seems, that this is not possible right now. I had Ring Doorbell (1st gen) but it only have 720p, so I changed it to Ring Doorbell 2 and this one is just crap. Even when my router is 5 m from it, it shows poor signal. I checked it with 3 other routers - no change. I replace it in shop and new unit still have dose problems. So I returned it. Ring 1 and 2 also have sometimes other issues like I had to wait very long time for any info, that someone is near the door. There were situations, where I answered and the visitor just went away, cause he thought there is no one in home...

Robin Pro-Line is expensive AF and other announced devices are wired. So as I thought... I have no option for HomeKit anytime soon :(

Have you got any recommendation on other devices (video doorbell + wireless) not necessary compatible with homekit?

Also thanks for info about Circle2 camera. I thought that wireless also support HomeKit.

Except HomeKit allows secure recording and analysis, rather than uploading everything, and you get storage space if you have an iCloud subscription. I would get the new Netatmo model.

I agree with you to an extent but do you have an example for clarity?

Where I don't agree is where the goal is convenience and your eco system is Home Kit ready. For my example I'll use a light switch (or outlet..whatever). Since I have an iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac and HomePod saying "Hey Siri turn X light on/off". Could be any devices though, "Hey Siri set them temp to 72".

Grabbing my phone, unlocking, opening an app, lettings it load, activating a function, is only more convenient if the light switch/thermostat isn't nearby.

Another example is ease of use and reliability with geofencing. I prefer not to have 5 apps using my exact location GPS compared HomeKit that is baked into the OS.

Where I agree with you is when you are forced to compromise. Security cameras is one of those places however even then I would still strongly recommend someone do a lot of research on how their data is used. Also use no name cameras outside, never looking at you especially in a bedroom or someplace private.
