Sorry if this has been discussed before but I personally didn't find anything for this question in particular

Current state:
Wedding video editor
Using premiere on custom built PC
Live in a 2 bedroom condo
Setup is in kids room due to limited space. I can't edit or do any work when they sleep which is by 830pm

Looking to buy Macbook pro for portability AND performance

Option 1: 14inch Macbook pro M1 max 32 core gpu, 32gb, 1tb
Option 2: 16inch m1 max 24 core Gpu, 32gb, 1tb

I will soon delve into other types of video content and editing as well as photo editing.

Which option would you recommend and why? Other recommendations are also welcome

Personally I would go for a 16” MBP for these reasons:

1. The larger screen is better for video editing, to maximise screen and editing windows, unless you are planning to use external screens.

2. Larger screen is better to show videos to clients.

3. Not a huge difference in performance for GPU cores compared to performance gains of Max compared to Pro.

I agree with the post above. The M1 Pro will do what you need it to. It seems both models you're considering are well equipped for what you're going to be doing. If you dabble in 3d Rendering or something in that realm, you might see a bigger benefit in your workflow.

The biggest difference is going to be the rendering time for exporting your finished product. Keep in mind, we're talking minimal numbers though. 4 minute render time vs. maybe a 5 minute render.

The 16 inch seems to suite your specific situation better. It's also a VERY powerful machine even at its base config. If I were you, I'd hold out to see what M2 has to offer if you want to squeeze out a little more power. Also, take a look at the refurb store. Might be able to score a higher config at a better price.
