Right side of wrong
how do is video editing on a macbook in imovie? what about compared to an intel imac (1.83 ghz)? do you think/know if they would be similar? or is the VRAM and 3.5 HDD in the imac make a big difference?

The only real difference will be in screen size and hard drive speed.

The MB hard drive is considerably slower than the iMac, and the screen could be restrictive. Other than that the processor is fine, and iMovie is not dependent on the video card, so it should work fine.

Both computers are very capable of editing in iMovie.

thanks for the reply. i already have an intel imac that i edit videos on. so i'm used to that. it's got the 1.83 ghz processor. if i get a macbook, i'll get the 2.0 ghz model.

how much of a difference will the HDD make? a ton?

Maybe 500 grams :p . You won't notice that big a difference.
No matter what you should really get an external drive for video editing. Of course it depends on how long your recordings are.

yeah i have several external drives (2 are hooked up to my imac, 1 is hooked up to my powerbook). i guess i might still buy another one for my macbook also

How fast are the stock HDD and upgrade options on the Macbook ? I'm going to be getting one and was thinking about replacing it with a 7200rpm drive.
