Hi, I have a strange problem with my brand new Macbook Pro 2.33 gHz C2D. I am running Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 on the MBP and I use a NAS device called ReadyNAS NV. I have all my raw video footage, FCP project files, and scratch disk all on the ReadyNAS. I am connecting to the ReadyNAS via a Gigabit Ethernet switch with jumbo frame turned on.

The problem I am having is that while I'm scrubbing my footage in the viewer inside FCP, the performance is very jerky and sluggish. I used the same setup in my old dual 1 gHz G4 Powermac and the scrubbing performance is much smoother. It is practically indistinguishable from editing footage from a local disk. The Macbook Pro is considerably much faster machine and I don't why I'm getting such poor scrubbing performance in FCP. I tried doing the same time using Quick Time Pro 7.0 and the result is the same. I also tried connecting directly to the ReadyNAS using an Ethernet cable and the result is the same.

I don't think the problem is FCP or Quick Time. It's probably either the ethernet hardware on the MBP or the OS, or it could be my network settings. I've tried tweaking the settings and the problem persists.

I was wondering if anyone out there are doing video editing on MBP with similar setup. i.e. using a NAS device on the network, and I'm curious if you are experience the same problem or not.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
