Video editing software

I use used iMovie with some nice stuff coming out at the end but sometimes i would like to add some more complicated effects i would like some recommendation aswell as a guide (online or a book) on how to use the software. I am not that advanced but it wont take me long to figer things out.

Your only real choice is Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro 5.0.

You can probably find a version of Adobe Premiere on eBay, or else there is still Avid Free DV Express (or whatever it's called). I'd go for Final Cut Express though.
