Hey all,
After much on-again-off-again playing, I've finally beaten Marathon (running use AlephOne on OS X) on Total Carnage mode. What a great game. I started playing it when I was a kid on a disc of "All the Best Mac Games 98" and have been going back to it occasionally ever since, but only recently have been devoting a serious amount of time to it (reading week...): as it turns out, they're not joking when they say Total Carnage. For those of you who know the game, I'm sure you know what I mean.
For those of you who don't, Marathon is a first-person shooter video game with a science fiction theme developed and published by Bungie [maker of Halo] released in December 1994 for the Apple Macintosh. The game takes place several centuries into the future in outer space and sets the player as a security officer attempting to defeat an alien invasion aboard a colony ship named the Marathon.
For those interested, AlephOne is available here, along with free, working versions of all three Marathon titles (2 and Infinity will have to wait for me...).
Guide
Enjoy, and please pass on other great vintage games...
