I recently replaced the logic board on my 80GB 5th gen iPod. All the parts are working fine, but for some reason I am unable to format or restore the iPod. I have tried multiple operating systems, multiple computers, and many other little tips I've found along the way. No matter what I do, Windows will recognize it as a USB storage device, but fails to get volume details and after several minutes fails a format. It's like there's a disconnect somewhere, but when I do the built-in diagnostics (select button + previous button), everything passes tests, the hard drive is recognized fine at the proper size and everything.

I have tried putting the iPod into disk mode first, I've tried making sure it has a full charge, I've tried resetting it multiple times, nothing. I always get the white screen that says "connect to a computer and use iTunes to restore" but iTunes doesn't recognize it at all.

If anyone has experience with this, especially with replaced logic boards, I would greatly appreciate any help. The hard drive spins up fine and I don't think it's a hard drive failure. It's probably something simple that I'm overlooking (I hope).

Thanks!
