iPod video ipod

Hi mate,
I just received ipod with video playback it can only play with power supply and does not charge when remove the adapter it will go off.
can anyone help me am a technician but don't know more about ipod.

Your battery is either unplugged, or kaput.
Less likely, is some odd board failure that seemingly affects nothing else.
