I have a basic iPhone 14 running the latest iOS. I shot some video at a local music event, in a fairly dark venue. When I now click on the video in my Photos app to play it, it starts out fairly dark but after about 0.7 seconds it has faded up to a nice and vibrant look, almost as if I shot it in a well-lit venue. I'm not sure what's happening here. It's weird. If I was a photographer, I would consider this a bug and file a bug report, of course (nobody messes with my settings!), but in my case it actually made things better. The iPhone is somehow enhancing my video during playback? The problem is that when I go to post it on Instagram, it's back to the original dark and murky look. How can I make the enhancement 'stick'? I tried to save the "auto-brightened" video to iCloud files, and share to instagram from there, but the enhancement was gone. What's the algorithm behind this enhancement? How can I replicate it in FCPX?

Sorta have the same issue but most of the time it doesn’t brighten up, just dark. And auto exposure level is a bit out of whack

You could just screen record the video with the brightness you like and go from there.
