Hey, i was just wondering if there is an App in the App Store that allows like sort of a Filesystem where i can add Movies/TV Shows (AVI/MP4/M4V) directly onto my iPad without having to go through the lengthy process of converting the videos on a MacBook Air using Handbrake, thanks, skate71290

Maybe there is, but the iPad does not allow every codec. .avi files are allowed, but not if they use the popular Divx or Xvid codecs.

And just because you could add them physically to your iPad, doesn't mean the iPad is suddenly able to play all formats, just because the file is there.

Maybe Jailbreaking could help you, but that I don't know.

contact Apple and say you want expanded codec support.

Or get Air Video. Yeah, its streaming, but its live streaming, so you don't have to wait for a full conversion to watch.

i'll also ask them to hurry up and get pigs to fly, their prices to drop and for the MBA to get updated at some point in my life ;)

is AirVideo reliable? i'm not sure how it works, is it a program put onto the Mac/Windows as well? (as if it is then i will be streaming from my Time Capsule to my MBA then to my iPad, which seems like it is going to be a pain in the ass and not work well)

so it works like this. you install air video server software on your pc or mac. you also have your air video app that you download from the appstore.

so if ure within wifi range, you can stream the movies from your desktop computer onto your ipad. converting is done on the fly, provided you have a decent CPU on your desktop rig.

if you want to view movies via internet, you can configure air video so you can enjoy any of your movies as long as you have internet connection. Converting is done on the fly as well.

yeah, air video is really reliable. watched many movies over the internet/3g with it.
