Video on the iPhone

Hey all, just purchased an iPhone and I'm trying to get a few movies on the device. After I activated my phone I left it in 1.1.1 and went to jailbreakme.com so I now have the installer app. Anyways, I was wondering if there is any way I can put avi video files on the iphone and play them with some application, or if there is a FREEWARE .* to .mp4 converter so I can add the videos regularly. Also I was curious if there was any simple way to drag and drop music onto the iphone or if I have to sync playlists.

i use handbrake to convert DVDs to Mp4 and then you just drop the file into itunes. I dig it
