I just picked up a new M1 iPad Pro 11". I noticed when playing a video in the youtube app, it only plays in the top left portion on the screen. It's really annoying and my old 2017 iPad Pro never did this. iPad is updated to the latest software 15.4.1. Youtube App is updated as well. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no luck. Anyone else ever experience this?

I think it’s just a YouTube bug. I’ve gotten it on multiple iPads.

If I switch to full screen then switch back to regular app view, the video size goes back to normal.

I am not fond of the YouTube App. I just go to YouTube with Safari. It gives you the full Desktop version automatically. Much better than the app imo. The app is limited compared to the full YouTube website.;)

BTW....You can add the YouTube website in Safari to the Home page as an icon. You can do this with just about any website in Safari. Very handy.

Yes, using YouTube in Safari has its advantages with more advanced features, but I prefer the app. To me, the app is smoother, more intuitive, and better navigation. A big advantage of the Safari version, though, is YouTube ad blocking with AdGuard.

Good info on adding Safari YouTube bookmark to Home Screen.
