I just received my 3G iPad on Friday, and synced a couple of concert films to it before going out to TGI Friday's for dinner to celebrate! I took the iPad with me, of course, so that I could play with it a bit, and watch some of the concert while we waited (one of the main purposes of buying the iPad). What I noticed was that the video would get way out of sync with the audio the longer I played the concert, I would guess about 15 seconds at the point I paused it. When I un-paused it, I could see the video speeding up to catch up to the audio. This happened to both concerts while I was at Fridays. This had me very concerned, so I needed to do another test.

I purchased two iPads, a 3G for me and a wifi for a friend. She had hers since April 3rd, so she had a good chance to play with it. She also noticed that her video would get out of sync, but never as much as mine did.

So for this test I took my iPad over to her house and we played the same concert film from the beginning at the same time. They both played perfectly in sync for as long as desired to see. I have not seen this out of sync problem happen again. It has been working perfectly since the TGI Fridays incident.

Has any one else experienced anything like this?

The concert films were converted from DVD (region 2 - Japan) using Handbreak in Apple Universal format with only the following changes:
Quality: Average bit rate 2500
Picture Settings: Deinterlacing fast

These settings are to give me the best quality for my AppleTV.

I am not going to worry a whole lot about this as it hasn't happened again, but I thought it was just wierd!
