Video-out projection

I am on a MBP 17"

Is anyone else having issues outputting video/screen to a projector for presentation purposes while using XP???

I tried a number things (fn F8 included) and got nothing...then I got a blue screen, then a crash...

I had a hell of a time getting my 15" MBP to video out (X1600) to an external monitor in XP. It was never totally satisfactory, though downloading the drivers for the video card from ATI helped.
