Will the iPad have the same restrictions on video out (via either VGA or the composite video adapter cable) as on the iPhone? Meaning Slingplayer and other apps won't automatically output to the tv without jailbreaking and running add-on programs like Cydia's TVOut which impede performance further?

I was under the impression that apps would gain access to it, but I haven't heard anything to confirm that. I'm slightly disappointed that it's only VGA, DVI would be nicer (even without the need for higher resolution, it's just a better signal to have). I imagine it was cheaper to use video circuitry that didn't support DVI, though.

Since iWork works with the VGA-out, I suspect other apps will be able to take advantage of it as well, but only time will tell.
