Before we start, this is not to brag...

I will be receiving a refurb 27' i7 and would like to see some amazing footage that takes full advantage of the screen.

Since the Imac can't play Bluray yet, do any of you have some suggestions on a video file that would look stupefying on this beautiful monitor?

I was thinking RED footage, it's like 4k videos on Youtube but I hear that the bit rate is so low it's still pretty shoddy.

So... Any suggestions? I was also thinking that there would be like a download sample of some massive video resolution so the bit rate wouldn't suffer from buffering but can't find them.

Lastly, are there any links to high quality photos on the web that I can view on my iMac? I'm thinking the kind that were taken from 20+ megapixel cameras.

Thanks a lot MacRumors for the help. I'm sure others will appreciate this too!

Download Big Buck Bunny in full HD. I use it to test HD performance for clients :)

It's completely free to download and share.

This image seems to be real popular ;)

I love this community!

Thanks for the links, will post back when I get my mac in 2 days!!! :)

Big Buck Bunny, eh? Looks interesting, clients you say? Downloading now. :)
The UP trailer looks amazing too on my MBP!!! Can only imagine on the iMac.

If you could download a film with this quality(1080p UP) on iTunes then we wouldn't even need bluray, lol. Steve may have a point!:eek::eek::D

Yeah true HD would be amazing and much much desired IMHO

UP is SD

I mean the fine details are exceptionally noticeable and the SD looks so washed out compared to the HD version.

Help

How can I watch some of my favorite films on my beautiful iMac if I only have them on bluray?

Is it legal to download a torrent of the film in 1080p since I own a tangible copy?

...

For some reason, yes, it is illegal.

What is this complaining about 720p vs 1080p? Really? Come on, stop pretending.

I'm afraid I don't understand what your talking about in terms of complaining and pretending?

You see, I've saved up for 6 months and will finally have a i7 27' iMac () and as you know it has a screen resolution of 2560x1440. 720p in a quarter of that and now that I'm about to get such a freaking awesome screen, I want to be able to utilize it. At 720p, I could literally run 4 consecutive films all at once to fill up the screen oif each film was in one corner! C'mon, how strange is that. Quality monitor deserves quality media.

It's like buying a car that can go 160 and never take it off the residential streets, what's the point of having such a fast car when you can only use 1/4th of it's potential?

I've never even looked at the itunes store when it came to movies until just now and if I could download a 1080p rip from them, I would honestly be willing to pay to see the film twice if it means I can watch it on my iMac!

Well....

I recommend nodame cantabile in realhd from d-addicts.com - it's a japanese comedy drama (with subtitles) about an uptight music conducting student who meets a free spirited female piano prodigy.

One of my favorites over the last few years.

YES. Nodame! What a great show! Get it in HD and connect a good set of speakers.

Is there such a thing as 1440p video? Any place to download 4/5k RED sample video? Keep the vids/pics coming!
