this issue has basically rendered my iMac useless half the time. It freezes almost every time i watch streaming video or even video using VLC now. I doesn't freeze when doing normal computer activities, just on video.

Does anyone have any answers? I know some other people are experiencing this.

Below is what i am running now, i tried 10.8.3 to see if that helped, it has been happening since 10.8. I have to do a hard shut down and restart every time this happens. Is there any sort of crash log i need to post for help? Thanks!

i have included a screenshot of my system

The system log file should say something about the issue. Or the VLC log can help. I think it is a problem with the graphics card switching. Use gfxCardStatus to enable only one GPU, so that the OS does not switch from one GPU to the other GPU.

thanks for the reply! gfxCardStatus is only for MacBook Pros with duel graphics cards. It won't work on my iMac.

im going insane with this, i literally cant play any streaming or flash video now it freezes my system every time. it doesn't crash for any other computing so i know it related to that...
