Sometimes I attempt to watch movies on my M1 Mac Mini. I noticed occasional multiple minutes of stuttering in the video playback. The video is jittery and the audio makes annoying popping sounds. These are typically 1080p M4V files and I've using bluetooth headphones. I've had the issue using the built-in TV.app and VLC.app. On two occasions when this was happening, I paused the movie and checked Activity Monitor. It shows a process called duetexpertd using 100% of my CPU. Anyone know what duetexpertd is or if it can be temporarily disabled?
Looks like there's something called "game mode", but you can apparently only use it for "games". Is there a way to enable game mode so that I can prioritize my CPU for the TV.app so that I can watch a movie like I could 5 years ago when I bought this Mac?

Use Game Mode on Mac - Apple Support
Game Mode automatically prioritizes the performance of your game for smoother, more consistent frame rates and improved in-game responsiveness.
