A couple days ago, I was able to put in a Video RAM DVD and the Mac Mini would automatically bring up a menu with the videos on the disc on the screen.

I was considering using iMovie to edit one of the videos on one of my Video RAM DVDs, so I opened iMovie and started to check it out. Watched the video, etc.

Next, I put one the Video RAM DVDs in to import a video I wanted to edit.

Now, instead of the menu of videos automatically appearing, I have to open the DVD which takes me to a VIDEO_TS directory.
In that directory are a bunch of files with the names, VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_2.VOB and the like.

I've seen these types of directories and files before when using Handbrake.

I quit iMovie but still the strange directory and files come up, not the old menu.
Same if I restart the Mac.

Questions...
1) Did opening iMovie cause this change to happen
2) How do I get back into the mode where the DVD menu file comes back up like it did before
3) Do I now have to use Handbrake to get the videos off of the DVD

Thanks!

If you just want to play the videos, open up DVD Player, then drag the Video_TS folder that you see in the Finder onto the DVD Player icon in the Dock (you could also just use the Open DVD Media... option from the DVD Player menu). If you want to edit the videos, you'll either have to try and import them via iMovie, or encode them with Handbrake.

I'm encoding one of the videos now.

As soon as it's done, I'll try dragging the file as you suggested.

Thanks!
