Hello,

Aside from FCP X and MPEG StreamClip, what other programs can zoom out (reduce video from 100% to 80%) ? StreamClip is great but not that fast in encoding.

Thanks.

1, StreamClip uses X264 so it's essentially as fast as other apps using the same encoder (HandBrake) - and is WAY faster than Apple's Compressor used by FCPX.

2, what do you mean by zooming out? Do you currently have a cropped video with the left/right sides cropped to make an entire 4:3 screen utilized?

- if you have an ATV2, use XBMC, it can change the aspect ratio. I'm pretty sure you won't need to reencode in this case.

- if you have an ATV3, wait for the jailbreak.

- if you have a 4:3 TV, get a 16:9 one.

Hi,

It's not the apect ratio. It's the zoom mode. If you set it at 50% then the video will be 50% smaller. I use it in Streamclip all the time.

You mean downsizing to quarter-Full HD (960*540) size? Unfortunately, a full reencode is needed, then - preferably with something X264-based as it's the best and fastest. (Unless you use hardware-assisted encoding.) That is, HandBrake or Streamclip.
