When my mum tries to play a video on her iPad (in any app) the area where the video should be playing goes black. My dad’s iPad (the same model) and mine (iPad Pro) plays videos ok.

Anyone else come across this before please?

Thank you.

Haven’t encountered this yet. Did you try any troubleshooting already as in restart, force quit the app in question, check for updates etc?

Glad you got it working again. It’s pretty common I think that people leave iPads on standby, but the occasional restart every few weeks can’t harm.

iPad 9.7” 6th gen. I have tried a restart and that is working so far. I had ruled that out because I thought she switches it off every night, but she’s just told me that she leaves it on! Thank you for all your help.
In my experience, when non-techies say they turn off their iPads, that usually just means they short press the power button and put it on standby.

I’m not a non-techie, I just forgot that she doesn’t switch it off at night like I do. She does now!
