Hmmmm. I wonder if she was struck directly. If so, it's pretty remarkable that she survived, much less remained conscious and escaped unharmed.

However, if I was a betting man I'd bet that it actually struck nearby. Not that it would be any less scary.

Either way, she's extremely lucky.

It looks like it struck somewhere very close to her. If it had struck her, I think we wouldn't even see the video, since the equipment would be fried. But she was indeed lucky.

It struck close by her balcony and then traveled up and through her. At least that is what I understood.

When I saw the news story I was trying to convince my nephew that he had nothing to fear of lightning.

my aunt was hit by lightning when she was hiking in the mountains. 4 people unconsciuos, multiple burns, a day at the emergency room (you can have cardiac arrest 24hrs later), shoes burned off, jacket and pants ruined and she still hides in the basement when a thunderstorm comes close. that happened 30 years ago.

so i don't think that is a direct hit on the video. it's a tree nearby.

nevertheless, a close call and i'm glad she's fine!:)
