Lately when I've texted some videos to friends, some say the video is fine, others say it blurry or has breakup. No rhyme or reason why, some are fine on some iphones and not others, sometimes its another brand and could be fine or not. Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Messages sent on other phones are sent as MMS. Maybe their carrier is downgrading the quality in order to compress it? Do you see a pattern in which carriers they've subscribed to? Also, those that get low quality videos on iPhone, do they have iMessage activated?

Yeah I think that with your help I figured it out. When I send the same video iPhone to iPhone it looks fine. Full screen and clear. When I send to a group that includes non iPhones, I have that problem. Weird, it must downgrade the video for everyone, not just the non iPhones.

That's because they upload one single copy and send it to multiple receivers - a practice that could save data and time during the days of 2G & Edge, but no one cares to revisit it now that we have much higher speeds and data (for carriers) isn't as dear as it once was.
