hi

I have been using iPhones since the 3G and have always migrated all my data from previous iPhones.

For many years that meant that I could go back to any text/sms conversations I had dating back to 2008 within the messages app.

When opening a conversation that has correspondence in it going back a couple of years, it will only let me go back 1-2 years before it will bounce back to the newest one when I'm scrolling through my old messages.

This basiclLy means I can't access those messages anymore and they are lost. I can still search for old messages but not manually go back.

Any ideas?

What was set in message settings? There's an option to never delete or delete messages older than x months etc.

If that was set to never delete from device perhaps Apple have a cap on time until deletion?

I have it set to keep forever - I can search for those old messages though I believe, using the search box on top of messages.
