I have Yosemite 10.10.3 if that matters. I have a flashdrive with a couple hundred photos on it, and I want to view them without having to open them one by one in preview, but I don't want to import them and keep them on my computer. I thought there was a way to just view the contents of a USB in Photos, but it's not showing up there. Any help is appreciated.

Here's an easy trick: just use Quick View.
Open the flash drive to get access to the picture files. Click on just one photo, if you like. Or, Command-A to select all files at once (this works great if there are no other files that are not pictures). Or, you can Command-click on several random files - whatever you prefer.
Now comes the trick: press the space bar to activate Quick View.
With just one photo selected, there's your picture.
If you have multiple pictures selected, then you can click on the thumbnail icon in the window menu, and you can see thumbnails of all the selected files, or you can easily run a slideshow through all selected pictures.

That worked, thank you!

Also worth mentioning is a photo browsing app named "Lyn".

Works fine for me, even in "demo" mode.
