Hi,

I was curious, for those of you who have a Macbook Pro and an external display capable of at least 1920x1200, how many of you can watch native HDTV (1080p) without any frame drops? I have tried 1080p on my 17" MBP, and there are frame drops, but I am not sure if this is because the resolution is being downconverted.

I haven't connected mine to an external display, but it (15") plays them just fine...about 80% CPU usage....

I'm sure playing 1080p will be absolutely no problem. Now, playing 1080p using H.264 may be a different story and I have a feeling this is what you are referring to.

Just as a note my Intel Mac mini (1.66 Core Duo) connected to a 1280x720 display can play 1080p H.264 at 18-24 FPS and 720p H.264 at a perfect 24FPS

And mine doesn't drop any, and one CPU is sitting idle.
