Can anyone tell me where the option is on ATV2 to view photos and videos taken with iPhone 4 over airplay? I want to watch/view them on the TV. Do I need to upload them to iTunes first? I believe with airplay you should be able to do easily right from the iOS device.

You have to have your iPhone and the :apple:TV connected to the same wi-fi network, then when viewing your photos or videos on your phone (in the Photos app) you should see an AirPlay icon (on the iOS device). Tap the icon, select the :apple:TV, and enjoy your photos/videos on your TV!

When you start to playback videos or photos on your iphone, you should get the airplay icon (a triange pointing into a rectangle), tap that to send it to the ATV2.

The airplay button will only appear if there is a apple tv in range on the same wireless network. You don't get it otherwise.

Our photos came up great on the ATV2, but when I went to watch a couple of videos that I shot with my iPhone 4, the Airplay option did not come up and everything is connected to our home network. Everything works great except when I go to watch a video. Any clues??

Is your firmware up to date? Watching videos via AirPlay was added later, I think it was in iOS 4.3. so you might have to update your iPhone and apple tv before being able to use this feature.

You do it right from the iOS device. There is no option or place you need to go to on the ATV2 for Airpay to work. In fact, you could be in the middle of watching Netflix or something on the ATV and when you click the Airplay button on your iPhone it will jump right to playing or showing whatever you Airplayed. It is drop dead simple.

The only thing you have to make sure of is that your ATV2 and the iPhone are on the same wireless network. I have heard some non-Apple routers block certain ports by default needed by Airplay which means you will need to set them to allow it but that is not common among routers. My Linksys router works as well as my Apple Time Capsule and Airport Expresses.

Edit: I see you said photos work so your wireless setup likely isn't the problem. You need to be on at least iOS 4.3 for Video Airplay to work like the previous poster suggested so check that.
