New to Macs (MacBook Air M1, MacOS 12) but used computers before CP/M. Our kids tell me I must learn the Apple system.

My wife and I each maintain Google Calendars. She shares hers with me.

On my iPhone and iPad, the calendar app allows inclusion of her shared calendar. On Windows, I have a desktop link (Chrome) to mine which includes hers.

I understand the lack of apps for Google calendar; Windows doesn't have one either. Part of learning is using what Apple furnishes.

Web searches suggest that I should be able to drag the url to the dock; that seems to no longer work.

I'd like to do things Apple's way; how do I add a shared Google calendar to my Apple calendar dock accessible calendar?

Thanks, George

Good for your kids nudging you to try Apple, and welcome Macrumors. Lots of people here to help. If you're in a hurry for an answer, you can always search by typing support.apple.com and a couple of keywords in your browser search bar to look for the official Apple support article or guide.

Although I don't use Google calendars, the normal way to add an account to your Mac Calendar app is to open the app, tap on Calendar in the top left > Add Account > select Google from the options. This will prompt you to log into your Google account. Hopefully this gets you started. If not take a look at the support article below. I'm sure others will chime in with tips too.

You can also calendars to the macOS calendar app by opening the calendar and using: File > Add Subscribed Calendar and pasting the URL into the field.

If the calendar sharing was set up at Google Calendar (under "Share with Specific People") the calendar should show up in macOS Calendar.

Just testing this again and I was having an issue when I tried to share a calendar with "Make changes and manage sharing" permissions for the recipient. Sharing it with permissions set to "Make changes to events" worked and after the recipient accepted I was able to change the permission to "Make changes and manage sharing" and the recipient account re-accepted.

So…you may need to go through the sharing process again.
