Not at the beach...
I recently acquired a working 233MHz iMac.
I think this is the original iMac.
It is according to Mactraker anyway....

I'm going to upgrade the RAM to 256 MB.
I also want to upgrade the 4GB HD.
How high can I go?
What kind of HD should I get?
Does anyone know what model HD I should look for?

Edit: I'm also looking into upgrading the CPU. Any info is appreciated.

Any 3.5" IDE drive - it will only format up to 128GB tho (which is what you get if you put a 160GB in for example). I like Seagate.

Install guide (and a bunch of other upgrade info) here

Thanks fo the info.

Next Q...
Do you think this 7200 RPM HD will run to hot?

And do you know of any good websites that have info/parts on upgrading the CPU?

no idea on cpu upgrades, but been running a 7200rpm drive in a 350 slot load for years with no problems. running 10.3.x is very usable with 256mb of memory.

good luck!
