iPad Pro Vintage iPad Pro no Apple replacement available - recommend 3rd party battery replacement service?

Title says it all...need battery replacement (raw: 73%, adjusted 70%) on a iPad Pro 9.7 WiFi/cellular now classified as vintage.

Calling the local Apple authorized store says no to qualifying for a replacement from Apple so who do we like for a 3rd party service to replace the battery?

Yep, I'm just directed to an AASP via that link and they all tell me based on serial number no replacement is available.

So it's at a local place with good reviews that needed to order the part so I'll have it back next week.

Got it back...same price as an Apple swap for the battery replacement.

There are many, many battery apps...recommendations for testing/calibrating/keeping track of battery health?

What has your experience been in general with the 9.7-inch iPad Pro? Any updates on battery life after the third-party replacement? What iOS version is it on?
 
I scheduled an appointment for Monday at the Apple Store for my iPad Pro 21.9 second generation. I hope they have a battery for it. This iPad still works really good, but when my nieces little boy plays Roblox, it doesn’t last too long before he drains it. I bought this iPad in 2017, so I think it’s time for a battery replacement.

Do you have the health and cycles data?

I just came from the Apple Store. The rep did a diagnostic, and she told me my battery is at 86%. They would replace the iPad when it gets to 80%, not the battery. $119

That’s why I asked. Coconut would’ve probably shown at least 10% below that, but Apple’s own numbers are better. It’s irrelevant anyway, I’ve never seen an iPad’s battery life degraded solely because of battery health.

Do you have the cycle count?

updated to 16.6

One app I used generated its own score...374 before, 789 after with anything above 700-something a "good" battery.

And how does one install Coconut battery for iPad...do I have to connect it to a Mac? Via BT/USB/other?

It's odd. I have the 2015 iPad Pro 12", Battery health is shockingly at 98% - according to Coconut, iMazing....and even this Shortcut trick.

Plugged in, still runs ok...BUT without the plug...the drain is really awful now. This iPad is running 16.6...but is now considered "vintage/obsolete." It won't be able to get the OS17. ☹️

You install it on a Mac and then plug the iPad into it.

This is solely due to iOS updates. I have its little brother (the 9.7-inch iPad Pro), and it gets me 10 hours of screen-on time with light use. It’s on iOS 12, Apple forced it into iOS 12 from iOS 9 four years ago. It got 13-14 on iOS 9. Coconut says 83%, but battery life has been completely stable in the 3 years it was on iOS 9, and it’s been completely stable since Apple forced it into iOS 12.

Your comment further confirms my long-held statement that battery health is irrelevant.

Qualcomm's licensing agreement for their LTE/GPS chips increases the price of device.

iOS 17 is incompatible with your 7+ year old iPad Pro 9.7". I'd just sell it for about $100 rather than look for a 3rd party battery that will likely crap out after year or 2's use.
