Apologies if this is in the wrong spot or has been asked before but has anyone else fought with Mail on their Mac regarding VIP contacts being sent to the trash? I'll explain my situation...

I have a number of VIP contacts set in mail, including notifications from my bank. Whenever I log into one of my bank apps, I get an email from them saying "Your account was accessed on date/time..." which is exactly what I want it to do. However, these emails are automatically being sent to trash and I cant figure out why.

I've gone through the rules on the Mail App AND on iCloud.com and I cannot find anything that would cause these emails to be routed to the trash. I've even set up a rule in the Mail app that says "Any contacts marked as VIP get sent to Inbox" but Mail just ignores it and sends them to the trash anyways.

Even emails from Apple are being sent to the Trash, even though they are set as VIP as well. I just dont get it. I've disabled Junk filtering to see if the behavior changes and it's the same thing so I'm at a loss.

I'm tempted to see if Outlook or some other mail app works any better at this point so I'm hoping someone has a next step for me to try.

Add the email addresses from your bank to your email's whitelist or safe sender list. This will ensure that emails from those addresses are not treated as spam or sent to the trash folder. The process for adding addresses to the whitelist can vary depending on the email service or client you are using, so consult the documentation or support resources specific to your email provider for guidance.

They are already whitelisted in both Mail and Contacts. Since I'm using iCloud, you'd think everything would sync but nooooo.....

Apologies for bumping this thread but I'm at a loss with iCloud mail.

I've reviewed all of my rules on iCloud, the mail app and anywhere else I can think of and there is no logical reason why my VIP emails are being sent to the trash. I've since created specific rules for these emails to go to a specific folder and it still isn't working. I know Apple isnt known for being an "email" company but holy god, this is infuriating.

iCloud's filters are garbage. The filters and rules on the Mail app dont work. Setting contacts, domains and addresses as VIP doesnt do jack ****. There isnt a good way to establish a whitelist for approved domains. iCloud email is a hot mess.

I created a new Hotmail account yesterday because my patience with iCloud has run out. That being said, I'm trying to decide if forwarding all of my iCloud emails to Hotmail would be easier than going through all of my internet accounts and updating my email address or not.

Same thing happens to me. Mail from people in my contacts, VIPs, people from whom I've previously gotten mail from in the proper inbox are now showing up in the junk folder. I've checked my rules and checked my email filtering settings and can find no reason for this happening. Surely there must be some way to troubleshoot this.
