Virginize before I upgrade to 1.1.1 and hack?

I am running a hacked 1.0.2 iPhone ATT network. Do I need to virginize before I upgrade to 1.1.1 in itunes and go to jailbreakme.com to install apptapp?

Usually, virginize means you unlocked your phone with the old version of Anysim, and you need to downgrade the baseband before you upgrade your phone to 1.1.1.

But it's always a good idea to restore your phone (if that's what you mean by virginize) before you upgrade to the new firmware.
I'm sure you've heard of a new method of "hacking" the phone by use of http://jailbreakme.com. I quoted hacking because it's that easy.
