I've been trying for the last few hours to get Virtual Hosts set up on my local machine, running Leopard.

I have followed both of these sites:
http://ohpreis.wordpress.com/2008/04/17/setting-up-name-based-virtual-hosting-on*mac-os-x-leopard/
http://adactio.com/journal/1395

but neither have worked..
The only thing that I can see that I'm doing differently is that I am using a folder called /virtualhosts/ on my Duncan/users/harry/ directory, the same directory that my downloads, desktop, music, photos etc folders are in..

Any ideas?!

I found that virtual hosts were too much work to do manually and that OS X's PHP and MySQL were too different from my actual server environment for using my machine with virtual hosts as a development environment.

Instead, I bit the bullet and bought MAMP Pro to do all of the hard work for me. It's really saved me a lot of headaches getting GD and ImageMagick support, as well as managing the PHP and MySQL versions.

[edit]I just realized how much of an advertisement that sounded like. Sorry, but I really do like the program!
