Hi there I'm a bit confuzzled :)
After having tried for an inordinate amount of time to get the Mac version of an app called Protegè (which runs under Java 8) to properly work, I'm surrendering and decided to buy Parallels 17 and get a Linux system under it to then run the Linux version of Protegè.

2 questions please:

a) The distros I am more comfortable with are Debian and its derivatives. What is currently the nimblest Debian based distro that I could host under Parallels with the sole purpose of running this damn Protege app under its Java?

b) What "architectures" of the said Linux should I be aiming for to best run on the M1 machine under Parallels?

Thank you very much
