How does the virtual number work with this card? I use ShopSafe with Bank of America card and you can create a new number and set the amount and expiration date you want. I don't see that here which is one reasons I applied for this card. Anybody?? Really wanted to cancel the BOA card.

I am almost 100% Apple Card does not have a feature like that. You have the option to request a new number, but that is really for when you feel your number was compromised.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to cancel your Bank of America card? Just to simplify your credit card accounts?

By reading the article its saying the card number you see in the app (The full card number and CCV is a "Virtual Card Number" already, and you can click the REQUEST NEW CARD NUMBER at any time if you felt the card number was given to someone not trust worthy. Its all under the CARD INFO section in the app.

Quoting the article you linked, it states that:

Instead, Apple provides a virtual card number and confirmation code (CVV) for the card in the app. You can use this for non-Apple Pay purchases online or over the phone. This number is semi-permanent, meaning that you can keep using it as long as you want.

But you can hit a button to regenerate the primary account number, providing you with a new credit card number at any time. This is great for situations where you’re forced to tell someone your card number but do not completely trust the recipient.

I wonder though when you request a new number what happens to the older number say given to Hulu or Netflix? I have a lot of online reoccurring payments so that would be a real hassle if it voided those. The BOA card gives you a choice of a onetime charge or a recurring payment number.

Guess I'm not seeing this lol

I would assume if you change the number, the previous one will be voided. Kind of like regular credit card.

only in this case? its not for security like a one-time number ? Because that's how i'd do it. Apple could have done that to, because its link to your AppleID. Give the best of both words...

Being digital, and also complete random. If there are disputes Apple could help out as they would have a history of he numbers associated to one's account.
